The desire to truly connect, to touch that sentient part of a person where their life is hard-fought and deeply felt, is the hallmark of Ott’s songs and the soul of his latest record, HUMAN HEART. Released in November 2010, this impressive 20-song album steps up to real-life questions, universal fears, and new discoveries with Ott’s own sense of humility and gratitude. “I want to empathize and reach out and have something more to talk about, besides ‘my music’ and ‘my album’ and ‘my life.’ I want to start a dialog about issues and causes that I’m passionate about.” The song “Am I Just One,” from his 2007 release LUCID DREAM, was featured on 3 different episodes of hit TV series GREY’S ANATOMY. And HUMAN HEART’S first single “Anyone” has already been featured on ABC’s THE GATES and MAKE IT OR BREAK IT. 
In less than a month, beginning August 17, 2011, USA Network’s show “Necessary Roughness” selected Carey’s music 4 times within three episodes – Aug. 17 – “Wish I Could“/ “Everywhere The Wind Blows” Aug. 24 – “Wish I Could” and the season closer, Sept. 7 – “Human Heart“.
“Necessary Roughness” successful debut was viewed by 4.67 million (#2), A18-49 1.4 (#1t) and after scoring touchdowns all summer long, It’s coming back for a second season! As with everything Carey does, HUMAN HEART is not just a landmark collection of songs. It’s more. “A lot of these songs started as me sort of giving myself advice, like some wiser part of me speaking through the songs,” he says. “Now I feel compelled to start following some of that wisdom, and encouraging others to join me.”
